Yesterday, when browsing the web, I found a very interesting article published by GMA. A girl, whose online pseudonym is Jessi Slaughter, got bullied – on YouTube. I personally couldn’t believe this, so I started investigating the case.

Let me first start off by stating the obvious: I’ve been using YouTube for a long time. I know YouTube and how its users work. When you mess with YouTube – prepare to get messed with back. You simply don’t mess with YouTube without getting loads of hate comments back. That’s the way it works.

Even though the article made YouTube-users sound bad – they’re not. Believe it or not, but the average YouTube-user doesn’t do much online. It posts a few videos and spends the rest of the time commenting on other videos in the hopes of building up a large subscriber-base. Not a lot succeed with that though.

The thing about Jessi is that she doesn’t understand trolls. When they start hating on you, you don’t hate back. If you choose to do so – not only will you get hated back even more, but you may even become epic. That’s what happened in 11-year old Jessi’s case.

She started publishing YouTube-videos about how much sex she used to have with her boyfriend – and well, obviously, people reacted. When they started doing so, she didn’t shut up.

Instead, she started posting more videos where she kept talking to the people that had started bullying her. When that occured, some of the people started threatening her to death. Some even hacked her computer and her YouTube account.

That’s pretty low of someone to do if you ask me – hacking YouTube accounts. Getting your computer hacked today is so easy that I won’t even include it in my list.

Anyhow, I hope you’ve learned your lesson. If you ever post a video to YouTube – prepare to get hated on. It doesn’t matter what kind of video you upload or what you think of it. Once it gets uploaded – someone will hunt you down. And when that someone does so – simply ignore it. Why?

In this article I will continue giving you tips on why and what to do when YouTube freezes. Here’s another reason to why YouTube acts the way it does…

• Your Internet connection is just too slow: This may sound pretty complicated and dumb, but one of the reasons to why YouTube doesn’t load fast is, or could be, because of your Internet connection. Your connection should be able to transfer massive amounts of data every single second. It won’t be able to do so if you’re on a cheap line that’s also slow. I mean, you’ve probably heard someone say this before:
  

  You get what you pay for.

  That is completely true. You do get what you pay for. If you pay for a slow connection that won’t be able to load your YouTube videos properly – then you’ll have to fight with YouTube all the time, but if you choose a connection that’s good – you won’t be waiting for your videos to load.

  The funny thing about YouTube is that a fast connection probably won’t help you. If 100 million people are using the system at the same time – disasters, such as slow loading times – are bound to happen. I wouldn’t rely on a fast connection to the Internet. Instead, I would rely on a fast computer. That is probably the only thing you could do if you have a slow Internet connection.

  There are no proper ways of avoiding YouTube to load slowly when it’s all about either your computer, your connection or the servers. However, these tips ought to help you out a bit:

• Update your video drivers: Go to your manufacturer’s website and download the necessary drivers for your graphics card.
• Increase the amount of RAM on your computer: RAM-memories can be bought in stores.
• Closing tabs you’re not using, and making sure your laptop battery is fully loaded.

As you may already know, YouTube is the biggest website on the whole Internet. YouTube has more than 100 million active users. There’s everything from hackers to kids on YouTube. They all do different stuff, but they’re still using the same service – YouTube. If every single one uses YouTube at the same time to upload, download and share video clips – what do you think will happen? Just imagine that your servers get 100 million requests at the same time. What would happen? You do not have to visit YouTube in order to see the results.

It doesn’t matter what browser you’re a big fan of. No matter how fast, good and reliable your browser is – YouTube could choke right in front of your eyes. If the video doesn’t pause when you click play, it may load very slowly. Why? Well, 100 million people are using it at the same time. But that’s not all, there’s more to it… I will therefore list some ways to why YouTube may freeze sometimes.

• Thousands, if not millions, of videos are uploaded at the same time: If you’re planning on uploading a video to YouTube – think again. The loading times will take forever. Why? Well, as I earlier mentioned – thousands of videos are being uploaded at the same time. If your video was the only one to get uploaded to YouTube – you’d have it uploaded in no-time, but since YouTube has so many users – it may take some time. Even though it may take a few minutes to upload the video – it gets uploaded!
• Some heavy programs are running on your computer while connected: If you have heavy applications or games running while trying to watch a YouTube video – it may not load as good as you want it to load. That’s because your computer becomes slow if you’re running a lot of programs at the same time. Next time you visit YouTube, try closing down all applications running on your computer. I’m sure that’d do it!
• Audio and Video files take up far more space than a regular file does: If you have a small hard drive, you should expect the video to load slow. Audio and Video files take up a lot more space than a regular file on your computer does. Make sure you have a big hard-drive before paying YouTube a visit!

I love chatroulette videos, especially when they’re uploaded to YouTube for me to view. For those of you that don’t know what chatroulette is, it’s a website where you randomly video-chat with a complete stranger. Yes, you heard me. Not only do you chat regularly, you video-chat.

You enter chatroulette in hope of meeting some interesting person, but you never do so. In fact, all persons you stumble upon are either pedophiles, perverts or old men. The old men are often masturbating right in front of you – without you even having to ask for it. What happened to the good ol’ days where you had to scream at someone for five hours non-stop in order for them to even show their face?

I have to admit that I miss those days. It used to be a challenge. Today, it’s not a challenge to get someone to show their genitals. It’s easier than sending an e-mail for gods sake!

Anyway, I recently started subscribing to a new YouTube Channel. It is called “PianoChatImprov“. It is ran by someone named Merton, and it is by far the best thing I have seen on the Internet for a pretty long time. The owner of the YouTube account uploaded a video that got about 2 million views in under 24 hours. Now that’s impressive!

This would usually amaze me, but since this guy is what I would like to call a pro – it doesn’t. When you’re good at something, and put it up on YouTube – you will get views. You should seriously consider subscribing to his channel. His YouTube videos are hilarious! Not to mention the poor faces of the people that get pranked by him…

2 hours ago, I logged on to YouTube in order to upload a new video. The video was quite boring, but I just felt that I had to upload it to YouTube. That’s when a strange message appeared, telling me that YouTube was hacked! I could not believe my eyes for a while, so I hit up Google and started searching.

According to a few blog posts I’ve read, a team of highly-skilled Chinese hackers are the ones responsible for this event. I kept on reading, and to my surprise, everything I was reading was consistent with what I had earlier read. Everyone, not just me, got that strange message. Some people even saved the whole webpage as a file on their computer in order for them to upload it again. I managed to download a picture, showing what YouTube looked like when it had been hacked.

Some of us got the picture above saying that YouTube had been hacked, while others got an error message that looked like this:

Http/1.1 Service Unavailable

I got the picture, not the text above… and to my surprise, YouTube had not been hacked. It was just a joke. Way to go, YouTube! You totally had me.

A part of me knew that YouTube hadn’t been hacked, I swear! One thing that made me realize that YouTube had not been hacked was that you were able to watch videos that were embedded. You could visit a random website and watch a video that was embedded over there. Visiting the website would result in an error though.

Anyhow, YouTube is working perfect now… and you should not be worried about what’s happening. I just wanted to tell you what had happened. Stay tuned!

Earlier today, I visited YouTube to upload a video. Why? Well, for those of you that don’t know – I video blog. I write normal text posts at least once every day, but from one time to another I like posting videos of myself just being an idiot. I’m afraid I can’t tell you where I blog due to the fact that this is the Internet. Anything could happen here.

However, when I went to upload the video – I noticed that YouTube had updated their blog. As usual, I was really eager to know what they had written. I checked the blog post out and there it was – YouTube had just introduced a new way of viewing videos. For those of you that think I’m talking about the “HD”-mode – no, it’s not what I’m talking about. I’m talking about the textP-mode.

- You’re talking about what…? The textP-mode?

- Yes, I am talking about viewing videos in the textP-mode.

While some users were wondering about what this meant, others were wondering why YouTube did this. Well, it’s pretty simple. By introducing this new, exciting method of viewing videos – YouTube saves bandwidth. How do they achieve something like that?

Well, the textP-mode is pretty simple. It lets users watch videos in a simple, yet complicated way. What am I talking about? I’m talking about viewing videos in a text-only mode. By enabling this new feature, you can watch YouTube videos in text. Since most of you probably don’t know what I’m talking about, I’ll embed a video in textP-mode below:

How do you like this new feature? I find it to be quite useless. It hasn’t helped me in any way. Well, no matter if this helps you out or not – it’s an april fools joke. Happy April Fools Day!

A few days ago, a young man under the alias “Rick” went online to post videos. Everybody thought it was an average day on YouTube with tons of users uploading millions of movie clips every minute. Well, it was, until the user Rick got his video uploaded.

Rick was upset with some of the decisions the United States Congressman Eric Cantor of the 7th Congressional District – Virginia had made. I won’t attack Eric personally, but I have to agree with Rick – some of the decisions were pretty stupid.

I have been browsing the Internet for a long, long time now. A week to be more specific, and I cannot find the video of the Rick. I assume it has been removed due to the fact that he posted a video with the purpose of just threatening someone.

For those of you that have not heard about Rick – he’s a man that simply threatened another US citizen. He thought he was anonymous on the Internet, but believe it or not – but he wasn’t. To all of you idiots out there, here’s a reminder: your IP address can and will be used to hunt you down, so posting threatening rants to YouTube is only a good idea if you’re looking to get arrested as Rick has been.

The ones that arrested the man was FBI. I can tell you one thing, and one thing only. That is: When FBI’s gotta act fast – they act fast. When the YouTube video came to their attention last Friday in San Fransisco, they immediately arrested the man and had him in custody the next day. Now that’s what I call working fast.

The thing that scares me the most about this story is that the FBI could turn your uploaded video into something else, in this case an address, in a matter of hours.

The video that got uploaded was homemade, and of good quality. When I first saw it, I got surprised. I thought it was going to be something a bit more simpler – but it was actually pretty advanced. Instead of filming himself with his cellphone, he actually used a high-definition camera. That was the mistake he did, filming with a good camera. If he had done it with a cellphone, I doubt he had been in jail today.

This is the best tip I can give you guys: Do not post videos on YouTube where you threaten people. Not only do you get arrested, you embarrass yourself.

When it comes to YouTube, we always think it’s easy to get views. Well, it is, but at the same time, it’s not! You actually need to work hard in order to become popular on YouTube. Don’t expect your videos to go viral. Not a lot of videos do. Optimize your videos for search engines instead. That’ll sure make your videos be viewed a lot more.

In this post I will give you a few tips on what to do in order to optimize your YouTube channel for search engines.

1. Pick Descriptive Title Tags: One of the biggest on-page optimization factors is the relevancy of the title tags. With irrelevant title tags – you won’t be anywhere near the first page. As you can see in the picture below, the user has chosen to include the following words in the title “New Rap Music/Hip Hop” which improves his or her chances of getting that video clicked on when searching for that phrase.One of the best things I can teach you when it comes to YouTube SEO, is to make use of the title tags. They should be relevant, non-spammy and describe the contents of the video.
2. Internal Linking With Video Responses: One of the best ways to notify Google of a new page is by linking to it. No matter if it’s about a regular website coded in HTML or a YouTube channel – the best way to get the page indexed is by linking to it.

When you’re on YouTube, you should build internal links to your new page which in this case, is the video. By doing so, your new video will get indexed in a matter of minutes.

Last year, around March, YouTube launched a software called “the YouTube mobile application”. It’s an application for S60′s and Windows Mobiles. For some strange reason, they YouTube application has been translated into twelve different languages. No wonder the application was used by ten million people around the globe. The application also became “the most downloaded Nokia application” during 2009.

Today, YouTube launched their latest version of this wonderful application. It’s version 2.4, and it can be downloaded by visiting the link on the bottom of this post.

According to YouTube, this application is quicker and professionally designed to make users easily find and play the videos on smartphones like the S60 and Windows Mobiles. In this new release, YouTube adds features as search tips, MyAccount support, and display the homescreen – optimized for larger screens. Now when you log into your YouTube account on the phone, you can see your favorites, your subscriptions and your playlists. That’s wonderful.

To try out the “search tips”-function, simply type in just about anything in the search box and watch the suggestions slide down. They should be relevant. If they’re not, feel free to complain about in YouTube’s forum. That’s what I do when something isn’t working.

For some strange reason – I do not believe what I’m seeing. I don’t know if this is some kind of joke or not, but I actually like it. Earlier today, YouTube received what I think is a facelift. They removed the old design and added a new one.

You’ve been able to test the new design for a pretty long time, but today YouTube made it official. They launched their redesign of the website to its users. The new look features a bigger video, and a simpler design. Instead of all the clutter that used to be on YouTube, this one’s simple, clean and fast. The biggest changes include a right-hand side panel which shows what video will be played next. This is what Google has to say about it:

“We’re smarter about suggesting the next videos to watch based on how you found the video you’re watching in the first place.”

If I understand things correctly, YouTube is actually basing the related videos not entirely on what keywords you’ve entered – they also take a look at how you found the video. If you found the video on some porn website, I’m pretty sure you’ll end up with  some adult videos being related to your videos. This has not been confirmed though, so don’t trust me – I’m just guessing.

Information about the video you’re watching is grouped together in one place now, and not spread out over the entire website. YouTube is striving to make the website a bit more cleaner. They’ve tried doing so before, but haven’t succeeded very well.

The only thing that makes me sad is that I won’t be able to vote 5/5 anymore. YouTube has removed that, and added a new “like/dislike”-future – just as the one facebook is using.

And last, but not least, the comments are in a better shape than ever before. Instead of just showing randomized text comments, it actually shows meaningful comments that do no harm to the audience.

Summary: You should totally check out the new version of YouTube. It is by far the best version I’ve tried out so far. It may be a bit hard to understand in the beginning, I’m aware of that, but isn’t everything hard to understand in the beginning? Tell me what you think in the comments below!
